These visually stunning stoneware teacups are made from mixing dark Kuro-Neri soil with a lighter Sheri-Neri soil, giving it the signature Gena Kuwan organic marble design. Though they may look like a delicate pieces of art, each cup was spun on a wheel and fired in a kiln at a high temperature for a lightweight feel with a hard finish resulting in a cup you can use for your morning coffee or afternoon tea you can brew with the Gena Kuwan teapot.

History:
The Gena Kuwan brand is a concept thought up by MISHIM designer Makiko Doi. Through her stoneware designs, she tells the story of a female sculptor named Gena Kuwan and her atelier who creates “vessels that resemble the work of a sculptor, with both strength and suppleness.” To create Gena’s pieces, Doi partners with Nankei Touen, a family-run ceramic shop Yokkaichi City whose products are all handmade by specialist Artisans.
